WAR ON ANTI PET LAWS

SHINING STARS in the War on Anti-Pet Laws
January 15, 2007 – With over 65 million households in the United States having pets and a $30 billion dollar pet industry, Americans obviously love their animals. Yet, lurking in the background are people who are working diligently with the city, state and national governments to take away our right to own and breed our pets. How can this be?
Anti-pet laws are sweeping the country in the form of Breed Specific Legislation, Mandatory Spay/Neuter Legislation, etc. These laws undermine the very core of what it means to be a free American citizen, with accompanying rights under the Constitution of the United States. Why are we allowing this?
BRIGHT SHINING STARS in the form of pet owners, breeders, and concerned citizens are standing up and taking the action needed to stem the tide of these anti-American laws. KIM BLOOMER, host of the online radio show ANIMAL TALK NATURALLY, is just one of the many pet owners willing to fight for her pets and the right to continue to own them. "I'm not really a politically-minded person -- but in light of what is happening in my country as regards my pets, I have to stand up and take action to be a part of the solution," commented Bloomer.
"I'm an average, responsible pet owner who loves her dog. I don't want my city to be the owner and decision maker for my dog. That is not constitutional. There are 65 million households out there full of STARS. It's time for each and every one of them to "come out" -- and SHINE!

Heads Up to All Dog Lovers
I went to this web site ( http://www.pet-law.com/future/whatis.html ) and what a great set of articles there is on here, describing what is happening to our world of animals. I am not sure how many of you take notice of such things as the CA bill that is on its way through right now, or how many of you even bothered to check it out.

While the PAWS 2006 bill was in the works I actively followed the changes and sat down and read first the Animal Welfare Act of the U.S. and then read an article on how it would read with the changes. So many would say things to me like, "So what is the big deal", we can still breed. Few seem to understand what this bill was truly about.
Walt Hutchins from Timbre Whippets has really put all of this into true prospective on this site and it is worth you going to read about it. I see that we have some on our group that follow the legislation of what is happening around the U.S. that is slowly depleting us the right to own dogs. I've had many pet people come to me and say, "Well we are not breeders so it will not affect us". Of course, it will affect a pet owner, where do pet owners get their pets from? In addition, when their current pet passes over the rainbow bridge where are they going to get the next one from?
It is time for us ALL to do a heads up and start taking a good look at what is going on in your own neighborhoods' regarding dog laws. California is about to become the first state in this great country to not be able to breed a dog. The California breeders then have a choice, pack it in and get out of breeding or move to another state that has not YET been hit with such laws.
You all need to start having a voice as in the end it will affect every single dog lover in this country. Each step of opening a door is just another step to the next door. WAKE UP DOG LOVERS AND ESPECIALLY POODLE LOVERS, because if you do not your beloved breed will be something of the past in 30 years or so. Even if you know people that are not pet lovers but eat meat or love chicken they need to oppose these bills because these activists are as equally in a movement to delete this part of our life as well.
Each morning when I go to the AKC site and check to see what state legislation is in the works now I truly wonder where the people are that profess to love dogs. If they truly love dogs, why are they not actively trying to stop these bills from passing? So many we have heard gripe about these bills after the fact but where were they when the laws were being enacted. We as Parti Poodle lovers need to do more; we need to become active in any way possible to stopping these bills in any and every state. Our future as breeders and lovers of these dogs depends on what we do about all this ridiculous bill passing that is going on around this country and being passed because we are lax in our wanting to help. If you want your grandchildren and your great grandchildren to experience the love of the Poodle as you have then be a part of the cause to stop these bills and not a part of the fall of our beautiful breed.
